IRS Form 990 is an annual information return filed by most tax-exempt organizations under section 501(a) to report their activities, finances, governance, compliance, and compensation details.
A tax-exempt organization generally must file Form 990 (instead of Form 990-EZ or Form 990-N) if gross receipts are $200,000 or more OR total assets are $500,000 or more at year-end. If gross receipts are under $200,000 and total assets are under $500,000, the organization can file Form 990-EZ. If gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less, it can generally file Form 990-N (e-Postcard).
Your organization needs to gather its basic information, mission & program accomplishments, financial information, required schedules, and governance lists.
Form 990 schedules are supplemental attachments you need to include with your Form 990 that indicate the organization’s activities or type.
You can track the acceptance status for your Form 990 in Tax1099 via the dashboard.
Yes, you can correct a rejected Form 990 with Tax1099 at no additional cost.
