The form 1099-HCis a health coverage tax form and is filed by Massachusetts’ health insurance issuers. It confirms that an individual had health insurance that is of minimum credible coverage standards of the state.
Employers providing group health insurance in Massachusetts as well as those Individuals themselves must submit 1099-HC form for residents who received qualifying health insurance.
Insurance providers must file Form 1099-HC annually to report coverage for Massachusetts residents, usually for state income tax purposes.
The form must be filed with both the individual and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue by January 31st.
Electronically filed 1099-HC Forms are directly transmitted to the State from Tax1099.
You will receive State acknowledgement of your eFile by email within 3 - 7 business days.
Failure to file may result in penalties of $50 per form, up to a maximum of $50,000. for the provider, including fines for each form not submitted on time, though specific penalty amounts vary.
