If someone pays you rent for office space, machinery, farmland, or pasture, you would report that figure in Box 1. Only amounts of $600 or more are required to be reported.
Box 2 is for reporting any royalties you received of $10 or more. Royalties generally cover license fees for copyrights, patents, and trademarks.
In Box 3, include any other income of $600 or more which cannot be reported in any of the other boxes on the form.
If you withheld taxes for a person who has not furnished a taxpayer identification number or who is subject to backup withholding, report this figure here.
This box is checked if the payer sold goods totaling $5,000 or more to the recipient for resale, on a buy-sell, deposit-commission, or other basis.
This box reports payments received instead of dividends or interest, typically from a broker when securities are loaned out.

Form 1099-MISC, used for reporting miscellaneous income, has several copies, each serving a different purpose:
Log in to Tax1099 and click Create Form.
Select the Tax Year and Form 1099-MISC.
You'll now see the 1099-MISC form with four main sections: Payer, Recipient, Federal, and State Filing Details.
Now let’s Add Payer Details.
If the payer is already added, click Select and choose from the existing list of payers. To add a new payer, click Add and select Individual or Business.
The next step is to Add Recipient Details Similarly, if the recipient is already added, click Select and choose from the list. To add a new recipient, click Add and choose Individual or Business.
Once you have added the payer and recipient details, Enter the miscellaneous Payments and any federal or state tax withheld.
After filling the form click next and view added form.
Note: State Filing option will be enabled and you can select it only when state filing is required for that particular state. In this case, State filing is not required for this particular state so we can’t select the checkbox for state filing.
Finally, click Action, then Submit Form Now, and proceed with Pay Now to file your form to the IRS. Now your form has been successfully submitted to the IRS.
After submission, navigate to Manage Forms to view and download the recipient copy in PDF format.
